CMP Committee
This committee is designed to assist members that are applying for their CMP certification by forming study groups and course outlines so they may properly prepare for the CMP examination. Generally the CMP committee works with 2 separate study groups each year and is responsible for preparation of course material that is aligned with the CMP exam as well as coordinating venue logistics for those that wish to study with others. With every certification success, the committee ensures the chapter recognizes such success and celebrates it! Join the CMP Committee to help others reach their CMP goal.
Communications Committee

Enjoy communications, marketing, advertising, newsletter development, web-site development and media relations. This committee is responsible for ensuring the Houston Area Chapter is poised for success by promoting the chapter’s events, compiling quality newsletters that outline MPI’s contribution to its members and offers a dynamic and informational website while managing its contents and design. By joining the communication committee you can assist the team in creating chapter awareness and broaden your skills in the multifaceted world of communications.
Community Outreach Committee
Remaining aware of our community needs is the responsibility of our chapter, as it is a priority to work together to give to our community. This committee serves as an industry relationship committee and organizes clothing drives and other various methods to show our support and assist others that are sometimes less fortunate. Involvement in this committee offers several degrees of commitment, and rest assured is extremely rewarding.
Education Committee

The education committee is the backbone of our chapter and is charged with the responsibility of educational integration. They provide programming that brings membership, education and networking together through out the year. This encompasses research of educational topics, speakers and facilitator, development of education presentations, and helps to educate chapter members on industry change and trends. If you more interested in the logistics side of our industry, this committee offers the opportunity to plan the program, working with venues and access the success of each educational presentation through meaningful surveys.
Leadership Committee

This committee assists members to recognize their leadership skill set, apply them with “learning by doing” and enables them to stay active leaders within the Chapter while gaining extraordinary benefits from their participation. This committee can help determine the best fit when volunteering for one of the dynamic committees or assist in developing individual skills should one desire be to become a chapter leader. Join this committee and begin the path of MPI fulfillment.
Membership Committee (Recruitment & Member Care)

Spread the excitement of MPI-HAC! The recruitment committee is seeking many good men and women with goals of being part of a rewarding meeting planning/hospitality organization. Join this committee, meet many new industry contacts and learn and grow exponentially as a contributing member. The committee offers varying levels of time commitment to fit your schedule and is charged with the responsibility of growing our chapter by the wonderful benefits of membership to potential new members.
Member retention is one of the most important elements to a successful organization. The Houston Area Chapter of MPI believes in making sure our new members feel welcome and immediately networked into the chapter as well as ensuring our existing members have the ability to maximize their return on investment in MPI-HAC. This committee offers a lot of areas for involvement that include retention efforts by phone and e-mail. Be an active provider of spirit for your membership and join this committee today.
Multi Cultural Committee

The Multi Cultural Initiative is one of MPI’s global initiatives and is founded on the bases of the growing globalization in our industry. A greater understanding of business to business across all cultures is necessary in today’s meeting environments. Better understanding how to serve and build partnerships and relationships in the African American, Asian and Hispanic markets/cultures is the core element of today’s success. Be a part of understanding and respecting the cultural business differences of today and join the Multi Cultural Initiative Committee.
Professional Development Day Committee
Reports to Immediate Past President, Vanezza Garza, vanezza@ceocorpevents.com
This committee has ultimate responsibility for delivering a full day educational conference that supports our chapter’s goals around the visionary programming and high quality learning expected as part of a MPI learning environment. The committee members develop the educational content, research the appropriate facilitators and manage the entire event with emphasis on theme, program format, sponsorship opportunities and ensure the educational needs of the chapter are met. Registration Committee
Reports to VP of Finance, Shannon Smith, ssmith5@central.uh.edu
This committee serves the chapter in administrative functions such as on-site registration. At every monthly chapter luncheon the committee volunteers greet members as they arrive, receive funds and offer a warm welcome to our chapter events. They are also charged with distributing program information. Be a part of a committee that provides the “face” of our chapter, there is no better way to meet more contacts.
Special Events Committee and Golf Tournament Committee

No thriving organization survives with out very special fund raising events. MPI-HAC is no exception to the rule. Currently two vehicles are used to provide the support necessary to raise chapter funds as raise awareness of the chapter’s success at the end of the fiscal year; The MPI-HAC Annual Golf Tournament and the Annual Awards Banquet. The members of the committee fully design and implement all aspects of the annual golf event. The annual award banquet highlights those individuals that give so much to the chapter. The event is overseen by this committee and is responsible for the theme and logistics of the even.
Strategic Alliance Committee

The Strategic Alliance Committee supports the chapter strategic plan by identifying and integrating business opportunities, through program and event partnerships that provide maximum return on all investments. Our partners benefit from brand exposure, direct contact and delivery of message to all our chapter members.
